Exhausted from the day, I stopped by the mall concluding night before the Project Track finale to pick up a few pieces of "comfort chocolate," and I figured that since I was already at that place, I might as well pay a quick visit to the MAC store.

I wasn't in that location for long, but I spent every minute of the visit with the MAC Holiday drove.

We're — how shall I put this? — yet getting to know each other. It's that bad-mannered stage, ya know, where I'one thousand attracted to the packaging but haven't quite figured out how I feel most the products yet, in item the frosty, cool colors in the sub-drove called Glitter & Ice.

I told myself, "Don't be scurrred," only I couldn't assist it. Frosty, absurd-toned shades like the ones in Glitter & Water ice don't always play well with my warm undertones. Often they'll look ashy on my NC42 skin.

But today, not wanting to requite up without a fight, I decided to channel Tim Gunn and "go far work," then I used one of my all-fourth dimension favorite makeup tricks — pairing a cooler eyeshadow with a warm matte brown in the crease.

The brown's warmer tones tend to residue out cool, frosty colors, and the play tricks has ane more than very cool side effect: whenever I blink or close my eyes, it reveals a quick wink of shimmer (fun!).

How do yous know if you lot have warm or cool undertones?

If your skin has a lot of yellow in it, you probably accept warm undertones (think Jennifer Anniston or Beyonce), only if information technology contains more than red than yellowish, y'all may lean cool (a la Courtney Cox or Oprah).

Here's another style to tell: take a look at the veins on your inner wrist. If they announced light-green, then yous're probably warm toned; if they expect blue, and so you're probably cool. For a more than detailed explanation, check out this helpful post past my friend Jen over at BSB.

For these pics, I started by patting Glitter & Ice's shimmery champagne Pigment Pot in Morning time Frost onto my lids with a finger. Then, I swept MAC Brown Script, a warm, matte chestnut chocolate-brown from the permanent drove, into my pucker with the MAC 217 Blending Castor. Next, I practical MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Fresh Water ice, a frosty, silvery white, as well from Glitter & Ice, onto my lids with the 286SE castor that comes with the MAC Make Information technology Perfect/Mineralize Brush Kit.

I retrieve Brown Script really mellows out cooler shades that I might otherwise not be able to wear, and for that I say, "Goooo brown!" 🙂
